The sudden death of Ustadz Jefry Al Bukhori (Uje) (40) has left deep sorrow for Muslims in Indonesia. The funeral of Uje at Karet Tengsin Public Cemetery, Central Jakarta, is flocked by thousands of citizens who want to give their last respect to the renowned cleric.
The area around the public cemetery on Jl. KH Mas Mansyur and Jl. Karet Pasar Baru II is full with thousands of people who want to take Uje to his final resting place. Uje’s body was previously prayed at Istiqlal Mosque where grievers packed the biggest mosque in Southeast Asia and caused the traffic on Jl. Taman Wijayakusuma, Central Jakarta, from Senen to SMKN 1 Jl. Budi Utomo and Jl. Medan Merdeka Timur in front of Gambir Station leading to the front of Istiqlal Mosque to be congested.
Ruslia (30), one of mourners, told that he intentionally came to Istiqlal Mosque to escort Uje’s body. According to him, Uje had thought Islam well and easy to understand. “I’m a convert. When I heard his speech, I understand easily because the material was easy to understand. It is certainly a huge loss for me,” said the resident of Pulogadung, Friday (4/26).
Meanwhile, the police are continuously monitoring the traffic density of mourners escorting Uje’s body. “There is no traffic diversion, but the traffic does dense. We deployed all of our personnel on every street corner to handle traffic flow. Everything is under control until now,” stated Chief of Central Jakarta Resort Police Traffic Unit, AKBP Slamet Widodo.
