The ranks of Jagakarsa Sector Police succeeded in arresting a counterfeit money dealer in the midst of their transaction on Jl. Margasatwa, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, Tuesday (4/16). NR, a resident of Citeurep, Bogor, West Java, was incarcerated by the police together with his two friends with the initials of MR and UJ.
“MR and UJ escaped during the apprehension effort. The police proceeded to conduct body search on NR,” stated Head of Jagakarsa Sector Police, Police Commissioner Arsalam.
From NR, the police found Rp 100,000 bills worth of Rp 54.2 million. “The counterfeit money will be sold with the ratio of 2:1. You could get a bill of Rp 100,000 to be exchanged with an authentic bill of Rp 50,000,” uttered Arsalam while showing the counterfeit money confiscated from NR.
The police also ransacked NR’s house in Bogor. Unfortunately, no fake bills and chemicals as well as machine used to print the counterfeit money were found. “Earlier, NR was involved in land transaction. The land was bought with money which got after a Kijang car was mortgaged. The result of mortgaging the car is the counterfeit money which kept by NR for about a year,” explained Arsalam.
For his misconduct, NR is charged under Article 244 jo 245 of Criminal Code about Counterfeit Money Circulation with 15 years of imprisonment. He is now jailed at Jagakarsa Sector Police.
Meanwhile, NR looks resigned in his cell. “I just resigned, maybe this is my destiny. Initially, I just want to help people to in land purchase. The money I got from it is that fake money,” he expressed.
