Jakarta Deputy Governor, Basuki T Purnama revealed that central government will probably increase subsidized gasoline in the near future. This statement was conveyed after Basuki attended in the meeting of all governors about subsidized gasoline handling, in the main courtroom of Home Ministry, Jl. Medan Merdeka Utara No. 7, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (4/16).
“The discussion of subsidized gasoline is already final and probably gasoline price will be increased. Its scheme has also been discussed in the meeting,” said Basuki, Tuesday (4/16).
He added, there two schemes of subsidized gasoline in the meeting. The first is gasoline price will increase from Rp 4,500 to Rp 6,000 per liter for all vehicles, and the second is Rp 6,500 for vehicle black plate. “There is no price hike for yellow plate two-wheeled vehicles,” he told.
To anticipate the increasing price of subsidized gasoline, Jakarta Provincial Government will allocate some of its Jakarta City Budget to help underprivileged citizens. "We allocate portions of Jakarta City Budget to provide healthcare, education, housing, cheap transportation and staples for underprivileged citizens," he told.
In the meeting, he added, the hike in subsidized gasoline is only waiting the right formula. “Certainly the price will increase,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, Energy and Resources Minister, Jero Wacik asserted that heads of regional government have a very important role in determining policy on subsidized gasoline. Therefore, mutual understanding must be reached between central government and regional government. "A governor is an indispensable element of regional policy which is a part of equality. Hopefully this meeting would dissolve any asynchronous understanding," he finished.
