In order to ease residents paying motor vehicle tax (PKB), Jakarta Tax Service Department is cooperating with Jakarta Police to open a One-stop Administration Service (samsat) outlet at Thamrin City Mall, Central Jakarta. According to the schedule, this sixth outlet will open until night, the same as mall operational hours.
City Secretary Fadjar Panjaitan said this breakthrough is a positive thing because it is able to facilitate residents in paying and processing tax matters and also vehicle’s documents. “Residents could process their taxes and PKB while window-shopping,” he said, Wednesday (6/20).
Moreover, Fadjar also assessed this service is potential to maximizing tax revenues, especially because its long operational hours which followed mall operational hours.
Head of Jakarta Tax Service Department, Iwan Setiawandi, disclosed that samsat outlet service is one form of Jakarta Provincial Government’s awareness in facilitating residents paying their PKB and legalizing Vehicle Ownership Document (STNK). Hence, this service is hoped able to increase local tax revenue from PKB sector.
Previously, five samsat outlets have been operated in five shopping centers, namely Artha Gading Mall, Taman Palem Mall, PGC Cililitan, Blok M Square, and Gandaria City Mall. “Thamrin City is the sixth outlet,” he told.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Police Regident Sub-Directorate, AKBP Latif Usman, added that this service is expected to handle complaints from residents over tax and PKB services because taxpayers can come directly without going through an intermediary. “This service outlet is also to prevent brokering practice. The service through a broker will take a long time. But through this outlet, the service only takes five minutes to process STNK’s renewal,” he uttered.
